Eliseo Rosario at Harrington at the bay

Eliseo Rosario Jr MD

If a person had ever earned the moniker “Renaissance Man,” it would be Eliseo Rosario. He is a New Yorker who embodies the sartorial swagger of it’s natives, along with a scientifically honed mind from the Brooklyn Technical High School (Brooklyn Tech) class of 1970 and a Bachelor of Arts degree (1974) from Fordham University at Lincoln Center (NYC). Eliseo is a proud Spanish bi-lingual of Puerto Rican descent.

His medical training at Albert Einstein Medical Center (Class of 1979-Bronx, NY) produced a graduate ready to tackle a Pediatric residency at Beth Israel Hospital, (1979-82) located near the old neighborhood, the Lower East Side. The Public Health Service commitment served as means of financing school and more importantly, as a portal to other parts of the country. As a general medical officer, the rank of Lieutenant Commander (US Navy) was awarded.. Assignments included Crow Agency Hospital, Montana (1982-84) and Carl Albert Indian Hospital, Ada, Oklahoma (1984-87). In 1987 the Rosarios, wife, and son settled into the community of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he was a partner with Carlisle Pediatric Associates until December 2018, capping a thirty-one years tenure with the practice.

Eliseo’s varied interests include long distance running, sports photograhy, pens and sports memorabilia collecting. The Central Pennsylvania landscape, its fauna and flora spurred more attention to photography. Music dominated volunteer efforts starting in 1995 as a founding board member of the city of Carlisle, PA, Amani Festival. He served as Entertainment Director for fourteen years. In 1997, the festival activity resulted in a weekly radio show at Dickinson College, WDCV-FM, under the nom de plume “Gus Sebastian”. The show, “International Our” explores international and domestic music and is entering it’s twenty seventh year. On December 21, 2018, Eliseo retired after 31 years of practice. He spends long hours pursuing photography, focusing on the lusciousness of the waterways, forests, mountains and parks that abound in Central Pennsylvania.
